The 29th edition of the MONTPHOTO awards begins. A must-see classic for nature photographers

Another year marks the launch of the MONTPHOTO International Nature Photography Contest, one of the most prestigious and long-standing photography competitions worldwide.

A classic with significant recognition among nature photography contests, it continues to be held annually in the Catalan town of Lloret de Mar - Girona (Spain).

This year brings important updates, including the addition of a new category for collections. The PORTFOLIO category will focus on creative and authorial works, while a new STORYTELLING category (Agustí Maria Vilà i Galí Award) is introduced for photographic reportages.

Additionally, MontPhoto will recognize its members this year by awarding the highest-rated photograph in each category.

All this comes alongside the usual categories and special awards featured in each edition.

MontPhoto has already opened submissions via its website, where participants can upload their images to compete for the grand prize and other awards across various categories. The deadline for submissions is May 1, 2025, at 11:59 PM. Images can be uploaded or modified online through the contest platform.

Becoming part of the MontPhoto Community is an option worth considering. Members include photographers and nature enthusiasts who work together to promote conservation, education, and environmental awareness.

Membership offers many benefits, such as free participation in the contest without entry fees, receiving MontPhoto's annual book "Inspired by Nature" featuring the best contest photos, and a 50% discount on all products or festival tickets.

Award-winning photographers will be notified in early July; however, the grand prizes will remain confidential until the award ceremony held during the first weekend of October at its headquarters in Lloret de Mar.
