STORYTELLING MULTIMEDIA REGULATION (Video)

At MontPhoto we know that it is time to enhance the importance of stories about the natural world. We want to show the power of visual storytelling and lead to positive and restorative action toward our natural world. We need authentic, moving and original stories to address different audiences. Nature depends on it.

We also want to know about your adventures, challenges and projects in contact with the mountains and nature.

This is the right time to know your story, it is the right time to watch those scenes, it is the right time to listen and understand your work, the right time to join MontPhoto’s new Multimedia Storytelling contest.

CATEGORIES

VM. MOUNTAIN STORIES
Action films including adventure, sports or challenges in the mountains or the natural environment, such as mountaineering, expeditions, climbing, hiking, caving, skiing, sport climbing, paragliding, canyoning, kayaking, rafting, adventure, MTB or extreme sports.

VN. NATURE STORIES
Audiovisual pieces that tell us a story linked to nature, with its conservation, observation, knowledge or admiration. Stories with any type of interaction with human being are accepted.

REGISTRATION

The contest is open to professional or amateur films from all around the world. None of the members or employees of MontPhoto, trustees, workers and sponsors of the contest, members of the jury and their families who have taken part in any process of the works presented will be allowed to participate.

The registration fee for the video category is € 15. Participants under 18 years old can enter the contest for free.

Each participant can submit one video in each category.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

The maximum length of the film will be 15 minutes, including the credits lines.

All the films submitted must include a file with subtitles in English.

All the films will be submitted through the platform www.filmfreeway.com.

The selected films for the final stage must be provided in high-resolution format and can be done in any of these modes:

• A DCP copy (with non-embedded subtitles)
• Usual digital file (mov or mp4) encoded in .h264 and with a resolution equal to or greater than full HD, 1080p.

GENERAL RULES

Videos must be produced within the last four years (not before January 1st, 2021).
Each video must contain the registration form completed with all the requested information.

AWARDS

• 1st Prize for the winners in each video category: 500 € and Diploma.
• Honorary Mentions for each video category: Diploma.

All winners will receive an invitation to the Awards Ceremony as well as a hotel night stay in a double room with breakfast included.

In the event that you are unable to attend the Awards Ceremony, you can appoint someone else to collect your prize on your name. Outside inland Spain, only cash awards will be sent.

JURY AND VERDICT

The MontPhoto Jury for 2025 will include 3 experts in the matter.
The jury's decisions will be final, so no claims or appeals will be accepted against them.

CALENDAR

• Contest registration closes: May 31th at 23:59 hours
• Verdicts: June 1st to the end of july.
• Request for the finalist videos to upload them: August 1st.
• Presentation and awards ceremony in Lloret de Mar: October 8th.

The Awards Ceremony will take place on October 8th in Lloret de Mar, at the Municipal Theater. The event will be part of MontPhoto FEST and can be followed through the web and social media.

MontPhoto will contact all the finalists to confirm their attendance at the awards ceremony on October 8th in Lloret de Mar. The winners will be revealed at the theater.

The organization may set up a public screening of the videos selected in the final phase should there be large number of participants and should the situation allow for it.

These films will be selected by the jury and would be included in this year's MontPhoto FEST.

LEGAL ASPECTS

Participants declare that they are authors of each work submitted to the contest and possess all rights to its exploitation in all formats and that they will respond for any claim that may be initiated regarding copyright, exonerating the organizers of the competition of any responsibility.
Likewise, he/she states that he/she has obtained the corresponding authorization from the people or entities that have rights to the music, images or other intellectual property that appears in the film.
If the film is admitted to competition, the copy submitted to the selection will become part of the Festival's historical archive and may be used as an internal query or as promotional for the Festival. Once the Festival is over, the awarded films and honorary mentions may be exhibited by the organization in non-profit cultural events, making mention of the awards obtained.

MontPhoto may also used them for training and educational projects organized by the entity itself.
The name of the author will always be mentioned and the author will grant the reproduction rights to the organization of the contest for this purpose. This grant is non-exclusive but it is extended to any future editions. The use of these pictures cannot be used with lucrative purposes.

Liability and data protection

Taking part in the MontPhoto 2025 edition implies accepting each and everyone of these statements. The organization will resolve any situation not foreseen in this document.
A proof of electronic submission will not be considered proof of receipt by the organization.
All personal data belonging to participants will be treated with confidentiality by the organization according to the Spanish law on data protection from 03/2018 (LOPD-GDD).
Participants can contact the organization at any time to update their data and/or preferences related to the authorized use of their personal data.
