Lugar: La Gomera
Descripción: This picture shows the endemic Gomera Wall Gecko (Tarentola gomerensis), which is a species found
exclusively on the island of La Gomera and is very similar to the Tenerife Gecko (Tarentola delalandii)
. Since the little Gomera Wall Gecko was particularly fascinating to me, I spent close to 5 days looking
for and photographing this species. This turned out to be quite complicated, because basically the
nocturnal Gomera Wall Gecko can only be photographed at dusk or at night. That’s when it leaves
its lair in order to hunt. Unfortunately the time slot of dusk is only a few minutes long this far in the
south, so the task seemed almost impossible to perform. This picture shows the Gomera Wall Gecko
in its natural habitat, the rough lavarocks on the island.
