Description: A Chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes) greets his keeper at the Sweetwaters Sanctuary, founded by Jane Goodall at Ol Pejeta, Kenya. This specimen was recovered from the hands of poachers at the airport in Nairobi, with severe malnutrition, dehydration and psychologically in very bad condition, and is recovering at the sanctuary. He will never live in the wild again.

Description: After the closure of the middens and the decrease of open-air stockbreeding, the Griffon Vultures (Gyps fulvus) must look for food in garbage dumps. This is dangerous for them, either because they have to walk among dangerous objects such as glass and blades or because they are victims of the excavators which carry out works in the garbage dump. Some have already fallen under their enormous metal wheels.

Description: The resemblance of plastic bags with jellyfish becomes a constant danger, as the tortoises ingest them by mistake. Many of them die from asphyxia and from disease in their digestive system. This time we did not let this Green Turtle (Chelonia mydas) eat the bag, but the ocean is riddled with them, and they are ours...

Aurora contaminada de Juan Tapia de Roquetas de Mar (Almeria)
Place: Keflavik. Islàndia
Description: That night we were taking pictures of auroras near our accommodation in Keflavik, before returning to Spain. We located this factory, which could be a good motif. It was only for an instant, that the aurora appeared, and it seemed to express its sadness with the black smoke from the waste. The foreground was painted with flashlight during the time of exposure.

Description: A lion ill with tuberculosis and its partner try to rest on one of the park’s roads, whilst surrounded by cars and tourists (here animals run free and if they decide to rest in the middle of the road, the vehicles must wait for them to leave when the wish, trying not to disturb them).

Description: This enormous cloud rises above the petrochemical plants of the area of Tarragona on a photographic outing night. A few minutes after taking the shot, the cloud expanded fast towards the city, leaving a long path in the air.

Description: Straight after finishing a good session at dusk on the beach in Benijo I am surprised by the significant light pollution in the area, increased by the presence of the low cloud in Anaga which contrasted amazingly with the clean and cleat sky without cloud.
