Description: Butterflies photographed in the wild. After a few early mornings I finally found two beautiful yellow swallowtail butterflies (Papilio machaon). I place a white background very carefully and behind where they are located and I patiently waited for the sun to start warming. The beautiful butterflies unfolded their wings and it was time to take several shots.

Description: The Membracidae family outstands for its shapes and colours. As if it was a Spanish civil Guard wearing a tricorn, this little Hemiptera insect (a true bug) camouflages itself among the green leaves.

Description: Copula of praying mantises. The male places itself on the back of the female with the aim of joining his genital organs with hers and placing the spermatophore inside. The female will then lay the eggs on a small branch and cover them with a foam that will harden fast (ootheca).

Description: Taking photographs in one of the forests of Laurisilva in Tenerife, I found this spider inside this Greenovia. I placed the equipment on a tripod and waited for it to get into the right position to achieve a diagonal between the spider and the centre of the rosette of leaves.

Description: Macro photography requires a good dose of waiting and patience. This image I am showing is not the result of pure chance but of framing the light and the time it will take place and be lucky that it happens. The fragility and beauty of these small worlds is incredible and you can find truly spectacular scenes at any time without having to leave your garden.

Description: During the summer I like to take pictures of orchids and butterflies. Thus it’s especially great when I get a chance to photograph them both at once. Here I was able to photograph a Wood White (Leptidea sinapis) on an Early Purple Orchid (Androrchis mascula). The early morning light dips the whole picture in a surreal red light.

Description: Rough Horsetail (Equisetum hyemale) is often found in wetlands. In one oft he areas I regularly visit to photograph orchids, there is a little swamp, where I’ve pondered over the Rough Horsetail many a time, looking for an inspiration for a good way to‚ stage these structures. All the pictures in my mind’s eye kept lacking something crucial. One summer evening, my motive had appeared by sheer chance: a bright butterfly amidst dark green shoots.
