During a family trip to Pálava, I slipped out early with my bike and camera while everyone slept. One morning, I found pied avocets (Recurvirostra avosetta) wading in a quiet lake, bathed in soft light. Using the ICM technique, I tried to capture not just the birds, but the calm, dreamlike blend of golden fields, blue water, and peaceful stillness.

When the lakes are freezing in early winter, some days the ice patterns are truly stunning. The shapes and figures created by the ice are numerous and very unpredictable. in this period, I inspect the lakes close to my home with the drone and sometime I am really surprised by the diversity. Spending time to carefully pick the motives and compose the images is a very pleasant process.
After the end of the rainy season, the Lençois Maranhenses are a real paradise for photography, especially aerial photography. Colourful lagoons pop up between the white sand dunes. The challenge for the photographer is to find a composition. Among so many elements it is difficult to pick out shapes that are simple and attractive.
At dusk, Ham Wall's wetlands come alive as thousands of common starlings (Sturnus vulgaris) swirl in mesmerizing murmuration, seeking vital refuge. Once common, starling populations have declined drastically, highlighting the importance of protecting these critical habitats for wildlife survival.
Gueirua Beach, like its twin Playa del Silencio, holds an endless number of landscapes in rocks full of remarkable details. Normally the colours, patterns and lines of these rocks are enough for us to enjoy the pleasure of photography. In this particular case, the lines with the extra seaweed stuck right there, reminds of those japanese paintings of distant hills.
