Early in the year, I went out to photograph the sunrise at 'Cala dels Frares'. In the first light of day, an immature European shag (Gulosus aristotelis desmarestii) popped its head out of the water near me, but it was too quick to capture on camera. This happened three or four times—it almost seemed to mock me. But finally, it climbed onto some rocks to watch the sunrise, just like I was doing, and I took the opportunity to photograph it.
We waited till the day on which the conditions were right for the photo we had envisioned. The descent of this magical waterfall as the snow fell and the forest was transformed into the dreamy setting, with the white trees framing the action. Reaching the site was already a challenge, but getting out of it, even more so. A choreography of nature, action and patience.
The full moon was visible for a while, before being covered by a thick fog that, gradually, was playing at covering and uncovering Pedraforca's summit and the moon, just before it set.
