Lugar: Karl XII Oya, Svalbard islands
Descripción: A starving polar bear in Karl XII island.
When the sea ice melts in summer, polar bears get stranded on Northern Svalbard islands. Here, cannot access to any food source, hence they survive on their fat reserves until winter, when the sea ice begins forming again.
Since the ice season is getting shorter due to climate change, many polar bears starve to death before the sea begins freezing again, allowing them to hunt for seals on ice.
