For millennia in the Mediterranean, almadrabas have been strategically positioned at the tip of prominent capes to intercept pelagic fish as they follow the coastline stream during Spring as part of their breeding cycle. Quite often, juvenile ocean sunfish (Mola mola) are accidentally trapped, and sometimes counted by the hundreds. Most will die during the fishing process.

I took this picture in the Red Sea Egypt, close to port of Hurghada. Near the shore we noticed another boat, and saw people jumping into the water. When we get closer to the other boat, we saw people swim and try to touch the Whale shark (Rhincodon typus). I grabbed my camera, and jumped into the water too, in order to take a picture, and draw attention with my photo to the rules for the protection of marine life.
