Frozen forest at midnight de Lasse Kurkela de Kauniainen ()
Place: Kuusamo (Finlàndia)
Description: Frozen forest at midnight. On Christmas day we learned that Northern lights overnight with a clear sky were expected for that night, so after a bit of planning we decided to get to the summit of the Konttainen hill of approximate 400m high. It was -23°C, but from above we were able to enjoy this amazing view over a beautiful forest in the middle of the night.

Head down de Tommaso Redaelli de Monza (Choose...)
Place: Monza, Monza i Brianza (Itàlia)
Description: I feel some movement coming from a tree and as I get closer, I see a grey squirrel looking at me from above. While looking up I realise how beautiful the foliage of the tree is when hit by a soft light. In order to include these details in my picture, I get hold of a wide angle lens and the curious Eastern Gray squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) starts coming down from the tree. And that is what made the shot I wanted possible.

Waiting for mum de Giacomo Redaelli de Monza ()
Place: Monza, Llombardia (Itàlia)
Description: On a morning in May, I had just returned from training when I saw some rapid movements on a maple tree in my garden. I got home to get my camera and tried to get a little closer when I realise that a group of Long-tailed Tits (Aegithalos caudatus) is waiting for their mum on a branch. They were all very hungry!

Recibiendo el alba de Alejandro Corral de Rubí (Barcelona)
Place: PN Delta de l'Ebre (Tarragona)
Description: I visited the Delta de l’Ebre National Park on World Wetlands Day in order to photograph some beautiful bird species living in this area. The species I took pictures of that day was the Purple Gallinule (Porphyrio porphyrio) after laying down for several hours and wearing a camouflage net trying to mimetize with the environment. The picture was taken with a permit by the Environment Ministry and by attracting the bird with ecologic seeds.

Unexpected Light de Federico Sciascia de Bologna (Bologna)
Place: Sass Pordoi, Dolomites (Itàlia)
Description: There was so much fog that day that we could hardly see the mountains. We were trekking and as I stopped to take pictures of a kestrel, I saw a beautiful warm light hitting the mountainside in front of us. I immediately changed the lens and photographed that scene which lasted a few minutes. With this shot I tried to show the contrast between the huge amount of fog and the spot of light.

Giant's Oasis de Branson Meaker de Durban North (KwaZulu-Natal)
Place: Mashatu Game Reserve (Botswana)
Description: With one photo, I can stop the time and look carefully at every detail that my eyes might miss, like these droplets this African Savanna Elephant (Loxodonta africana) was splashing in the water in front of me. While sitting very patiently and quietly in a hide in Botswana, I was rewarded with a herd of elephants approaching the water to drink. They were very relaxed, and that gave me enough time to take interesting pictures.

Leaping de Füssi-Nagy Csongor de Sárospatak ()
Place: Sárospatak (Hongria)
Description: Westen Roe deers (Capreolus capreolus) usually roam around our farm. You normally see them grazing and walking by looking for new fields. I was walking around with my camera when we noticed each other. Of course it began to run away with big jumps, but I was lucky to take a picture the moment its four legs were in the air.

Cap Martinet de Adrià Mas Escandell de Sa Carroca (Illes Balears)
Place: Cap Martinet, Eivissa (Espanya)
Description: I went to Cap Martinet in order to take pictures of the storm. The sky was covered by clouds and the waves were punching the edge on both sides. I was able to extend the exposure with a filter and that is how I managed to get this effect on the waves.
