I have taken this photo in the Duna-Ipoly National Park in Hungary. At one dawn in early summer I was just looking for butterflies when I came across these little spiders (Araneae) that were only nearly one millimetre long. They must have hatched at that time spent a little time together before they separate.
During a spring walk in a mid-forest pool, I noticed tadpoles from a brown frog (Rana sp.). They writhed very quickly, and air bubbles appeared around them. I decided to use one of the "bubble windows" as a picture frame.
Between the sand and rocks of the Saharan desert inhabits one of the most impressive snakes of the world. The Desert horned viper (Cerastes cerastes) is the perfect example of a species that thrived in the hostile North African deserts. With its notorious horns, the viper gives us an appearance of the devil itself. Nothing could be further from the truth, as the snake behavior is really calm
Last July, I went to a pumpkin field (Cucurbita sp.) in the early morning. Knowing that Yellow pumpkin beetles (Aulacophora sp.) like to eat pumpkin leaves, I searched every day and it took me over a month to capture a rare scene.
I took the picture in the quieter backwater of a stream. When I found these agile little whirligig beetles (Gyrinus natator) orbiting the surface of the water, I wondered how they could be photographed as interestingly as possible. After many experiments and multiple occasions, taking advantage of the fast and vibrant movement of the beetles I took the images with a long shutter speed.
The eastern rat snake (Pantherophis alleghaniensis) in Florida are quite colourful. The stripes of this species are very intersting and intesived by the keeled snakes as well. The round eye with its, also round, pupil provides a counterpart to these strict lines.
I found this yellow sac spider (Cheiracanthium punctorium) that built this spectacular web in the grass, under a single leaf, with two thin layers of silk, probably to pass the night. The light was filtering through the treetops, hitting the web from the rear. I had little time to photograph against the light and capture the breakdown of color on the web, but after a few tries, I was satisfied.
